Staying healthy matters at any stage of your cancer journey. It can help prevent some cancers from developing or allow your care team to catch them early when treatment works best. Here are some tips to help you achieve a more well-balanced lifestyle:

Patients and Survivors

  • Talk with your doctor about survivorship care plans. These include a complete record of your cancer history and treatment, any need for future checkups, tests, or screenings, and ideas for staying healthy.
  • Create a relationship with a primary care physician and visit them once a year. Talk with them about cancer screenings.
  • Learn to manage stress. Huntsman Cancer Institute has many programs, classes, and resources for patients. Simple things like reading a book, going for a walk, or meeting a friend can be very benficial
  • Go to your scheduled oncology appointments and ask them these questions:
    • Am I at a greater risk of developing certain cancers?
    • Should I be receiving extra screenings?
    • What signs or symptoms should I be looking for?
    • What should I do if I encounter those signs or symptoms?
